Understanding How Subuno Works
In order to help our merchants with in-depth analysis to prevent fraudulent transactions from getting through, Subuno has integrated industry leaders to provide better data analytics to our merchants. No separate account needed with each service. Merchants can use these tools to validate orders manually or create rules to automate order screening. This page provides a description of each service.
ALEXA
This services provides traffic ranking of the web domain based on Alexa’s analysis as well as the number of incoming links to the site. The information can give you an approximate sense of how established the website is and how popular it is. Fraudsters often create fake websites or copy existing websites.
This service is not available if the domain of the email is of a known email provider, ISP, or high traffic domain. , e.g. gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com, etc.
[2022 update: Alexa service will be retired and removed on December 1, 2022.]
BIN
The BIN service provides information about the customer’s credit card based on the first six digits of the credit card. It returns the name of the issuing bank, which country the card was issued from, and the type of card. The issuing country information can be used to compare against the billing information especially in countries where AVS is not supported
DON’T SHIP
This service offers verification against a database containing known high risk addresses and businesses, such as motels, ship-forwarders, etc.
MAXMIND
GeoIP Country
The GeoIP Country service helps you determine which country the customer is placing the order from by looking at the IP address.
minFraud
The minFraud service returns a risk score based on IP geolocation and IP reputation analysis. It provides details on the customer’s IP address and compares that against the billing address. It also determines if the IP address has been associated with high risk transactions.
NEUSTAR
CQR
This service checks on the validity of telephone number and whether this is a dialable number even letting you know what type of number it is (i.e. cell phone, landline, or other), the address according to USPS, and whether the phone number and address matches Neustar records. Additionally, there will be a Neustar score that indicates the quality of the name, phone number and the address.
PACIFICEAST
Telefied
The Telified service provides verification of the customer’s name and address against the phone number. It pings the telephone carriers responsible for the number and checks the provided customer name and address against the carrier’s billing records and returns what matched. The service can also be used to ensure that the phone number being called belongs to the card holder if merchants want to perform order confirmation via telephone
SOCIAL NETWORK SEARCH
Social Network Search searches for the information present on various social media platforms. It will pull up the first and last name that is linked to the email address. And also includes any social media profiles linked to that email address, the company the email address is linked to, and a general location of where the email address originated.
TELESIGN
PhoneID
This service provides information about the customer’s phone number. It returns the geographical location as well as the type of phone number. The idea is that certain types of phones are relatively disposable and/or not traceable thereby carrying a higher risk. For example, fraudsters will often use prepaid cell phones and non-fixed VOIP numbers because they are easily obtainable/disposable and not traceable.
TOWERDATA (formerly RAPLEAF)
Email Verification Plus
The Email Verification service provides basic profile information about the customer’s email address and verifies the connection between the email address and the customer’s name and address. This is a potentially good white listing tool because fraudsters will almost never use the real email address of the card holder since the card holder will know that his/her card was compromised when they receive the order email confirmation.
